The Michigan casino and hospitality establishment Island Resort & Casino is getting ready to add a new golf course to its entertainment offerings. The new course will enhance the resort's two current courses and establish it as a premier location for both golfing and gaming.
The Property Already Has Two Courses
As previously stated, Harris's Island Resort & Casino now offers two courses. The Sweetgrass Course, one of the top ten public-access courses in the state, is one of the two 18-hole courses. Sage Run, the other course, is also not far behind.
The resort is currently getting ready to build a third course, which will be created by Paul Albanese, the mastermind behind its two current courses. Both the Cedar Course and Kishki, which translates to "cedar" in Potawatomi, will be used to refer to it.
For background, the Hannahville Indian Community, a Potawatomi Indian Tribe with federal recognition, runs Island Resort & Casino.
The New Course Is Set to Open Next Year
A compromise between the Sage Run and the Sweetgrass Run is what the Cedar Course aims to achieve. The new course will be more varied in terms of elevation than the previous one, but it will be less steep.
Golden Age-inspired materials will be included in the course. The Cedar Course will also feature new interpretations of well-known hole designs. Famous golf courses like Scotland's Prestwick and New York's National Golf Links will serve as inspiration for the larger site.
The main goal is to give golfers a strategic, enjoyable game that rewards their abilities.
Although preview play will begin later this year, the Cedar Course is scheduled to debut in 2027.
